Hey everyone, Darra here! Thanksgiving is over so that means it’s time to get into full on Christmas mode! Every year we make our own ornaments and pulling them out of the box the next year is always a fun walk down memory lane. This year I had the amazing Kassa Chalkboard Vinyl to make the process so much easier.
What You Need:
- - Chalkboard Vinyl
- - Exacto Knife or Box Cutter
- - Chalk Markers
- - Round Wood Slice
- - Pencil
Trace The Wood
Take your wood slice and lay it down on the sheet of vinyl. Using your pencil, trace around the edge of the wood circle, drawing a circle onto the vinyl.
Cutting Out The Circle
Put the sheet of vinyl on top of a piece of cardboard, so that your knife doesn’t scratch the surface you're working on. Slowly cut around the circle with your exacto knife or box cutter until the entire circle is cut out. You can also use scissors if you don’t have either of those things available. If you want the ornament to have a little space between the chalkboard and the edge, cut a little bit more off of all sides.
Designing Your Ornaments
Now for the fun part, designing your ornaments! Take your chalk markers and draw right on your new mini chalkboard! You can try designs like snowflakes, holly, trees, snowmen and reindeer. You can letter phrases on them as well. Some popular phrases are “Merry Christmas”, “Happy Holidays”, “Let it Snow”, “Merry and Bright”, and “joy”.
Now just add a string, and hang your new handmade ornament on your tree! We would love to see your creations, so tag us in your posts and use the hashtag #kassamoment.
